Autumn Landscapes in Northern Michigan
In pursuit of a day outdoors, I took a trip up to Glen Arbor and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore on Friday to photograph the landscapes. Unfortunately, I was a little bit early for peak color in the most photogenic areas; in the middle of the state there were near-fluorescent colors, but LOTS of green still in Glen Arbor because the lake water keeps the temperatures warmer. Oh well.
I met up with Great Lakes Photo Tours, run by photographers Bob Grzesiak and Mark Carlson, and although this tour was structured predominantly for amateurs and beginners, I was still able to enjoy the scenery and add to my landscape stock portfolio. I went with them back in 2009 when I was new to photography and still working as an engineer, and found the trip both fun and informative.
If you are interested in taking some beautiful landscape photos and learning how to use your camera, I highly recommend GLPT! They are patient teachers and incredibly nice guys. And they know pretty much every square inch of the northern Michigan area, so they will take people to the most photogenic places.
