"Bob Marley" Lion Portrait Selected for National Geographic Daily Dozen!
Every day, National Geographic editors select their 12 favorite photos out of the thousands (tens of thousands??) that have been uploaded recently to their "Your Shot" site to be recognized and published in their online archive. Yesterday, I was thrilled to receive the news that my image entitled "Bob Marley", the portrait of the lion named for his dreadlocked mane, was selected in this elite group. I am a closet superfan of National Geographic, so seeing the little publication ribbon on my photo and my name showcased near their logo makes me beam with pride every time I see that image on their site.
Unfortunately, despite having hundreds of votes from strangers throughout the day on which photo of the Dozen should earn the title of "Top Shot", my quest for the #1 spot was unsuccessful. I got beat fair and square by another image that was more incredible and more beautiful than mine. In fact, mine was 3rd out of 12. Maybe next time.
