Wildlife of the Serengeti
As I am coming up for air after a 2-week wildlife safari adventure in Tanzania, I am reveling in what a superb experience it was. We began our journey in Ndutu, where we followed lions through wet marshes and into trees, chased after cheetahs in grassy plains, and reveled in the circle of life as we witnessed the birth of a wildebeest and the aftermath of several zebras that had succumbed to the teeth of Lions. The second part of the trip was spent in Namiri Plains predominantly photographing Lions in, on, and around the Kopjes (rock formations). We saw upwards of 50 lions and successfully tracked the lion affectionately known as "Bob Marley" for his dreadlocks. (See the second photo below, that's him.)
Although this was my fifth visit to Africa and my second to Tanzania, it was my first time there since becoming a photographer. One of my many goals for the trip was to begin building a solid portfolio of images from this region. Here's some of the imagery that I captured while I was there. Time is short right now, but in the future I will polish up these photos (and others) and provide a greater narrative of the trip. There was no shortage of compelling imagery!
